What is FDC?

Family Day Care is a unique form of child care, one that is able to nurture each child due to both the ‘home’ based setting and the small carer-child ratios. It provides a flexible form of care that includes day, overnight, weekend, and casual care.

Care is provided in the carer’s own home for children from 6 weeks to 12 years. Carers and their home environment are assessed and approved in accordance with State Government legislation.Approved Carers may care for 7 children with no more than 4 children who have not yet started school.

Family Day care allows Educators to spend one on one time with each child to support their personal needs, educational experiences and development. Having four children under school age not only provides an atmosphere where children can have relaxed, self initiated play in a quiet environment but also provides play and learning within a group. Learning valuable social skills that can be closely observed by the Educator, monitored and be enhanced to each individual.
Family Day care is not only for working parents but for parents who would just like their child to develop independence and social skills outside the home.
Early Years Learning Framework for Australia, allows Educators across the country to create experiences that are educational and fun within their play experiences. Programs are created to support each child's individual development. Focusing on their interests and how the interests of each child provides extension to their own learning environment and activities.
