Things to consider if looking to become a Family Day care Educator
- Look for a Scheme to register with. They will give you explanation to how you would proceed,
- Research what Educators are charging in your area's. Some have their fee's on CareForKids.com.au,
- Get permission from Landlord if renting,
- Decide if you are going to provide food or parents to provide,
- Safety proof you home
- Below are a list of things I have quickly jotted down and I will add more when they come to mind,

Safety glass
Televisions
Fans
Heaters
Hot water taps
Fridges
Knives
Sharp items in draws
Medicines

Furniture that could tip/fall

Toys
-Only purchase basics until you know what age you will be caring for. Toys to start with could be:
Blocks (keep them large type-Duplo/Wood)
Books
Baby dolls/Clothes/Baby doll equipment
Box of Toy foods
Box of TeaSet
Box of Cars
Sets of peg puzzles
Boxes with clip lids (Makes easier to store and stack and avoids all toy pulled out at once)
Wooden bowls- I would suggest at least 10, even better if all different

Local trash and treasure markets
Online stores-compare prices
Online stores- Ebay/Gumrtree +
Port-a-cot
Child Table/Chairs
Paint brushes
Child safe scizzors
Plates/bowls/cups (I have at least 12 of each-4 children X 3 meals, saves washing all the time during the day)
Egg cartons-For craft or storing pens, or what ever on the table to play with
Plastic microwave meal containers-For holding paint during craft
Cotton buds-Painting
Paper
Magazines
