Example 1A

Outcome 4:4 Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, place, technologies, natural and processed materials

During setting up this morning the children showed curiosity and excitement to see what was being set up on the table. They  helped by gathering items from around the room to add to the table.Through this one table set up, created many learning experiences and interests. Colours, counting, naming animals, social interaction, sharing, communication, creating with current resources, shapes.

CONNECTING WITH OUTCOMES
One example of 'Children resource their own learning', was evident when a child picked up all the curtain rings and counted as they were being place over the stacker pegs (bottom left).

EXAMPLE OF OBSERVATION/ FUTURE PLANNING

Adding a variety of items allowed me to observe what each child showed most interest in. Such as bottom left child has used the coloured pegs with board and curtain rings. I can then mark as an interest and add these to another set up experience in the near future. I had already placed coloured alphabet blocks from this child's previous interest. So him playing with the alphabet blocks AND NOW with the other items, his interests have been extended.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PROGRAM-Mr..A..

Extend Mr..A.. interest in stacker pegs and curtain rings. By re arranging the set up table to include different containers, bowls, tongs, pegs and felts. This will allow Mr..A.. to create different experiences with his current interest as well as extending further to others.

Example 1B

Example 1C

Observation notes- Mr..A..

Mr..A.. squeezed tongs to successfully pick up stacker pegs to relocate them from one container to another. He also used the pegs added to this experience and squeezed them around a piece of coloured/numbered felt. Through out this experience he called out the colours and numbers that were around the table.

Reflection-Mr..A..

This experience produced interest by Mr..A.. and also by the other children in care.  Continued set ups with these similar items.

Program-Mr..A..

Wash buckets, water/soap, doll clothes, small sheets and puppets. Using pegs to hang onto clothes rack.-Extend fine motor skills while participating in interests, learning how to hang and peg, sharing space with others, communication..

Daily Email to parents

When writing 'Today' activities I try to avoid using 'Eva was most interested'  and use 'She seemed, showed' most interest in.
