Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators 

5:1-Children interact verbally and non-verbally with others for a range of purposes



5:2-Children engage with a range of texts and gain meaning from these texts



5:3-Children express ideas and make meaning using a range of media

-Media- Main means of mass communication (E.g television, radio, newspapers, magazines) 


5:4-Children begin to understand how symbols and pattern systems work

-Symbols-A mark or character used as a conventional representation of an object, function, or process, e.g. the letter or letters standing for a chemical element or a character in musical notation
-Patterns- A repeated decorative design.


5:5-Children use information and communication technologies to access information, investigate ideas and represent their thinking

-Focuses primarily on communication technologies.  This includes the internet, wireless networks, cell phones, and other communication mediums.
